Why is the Auditor's Code slightly different in the
1978 and 1998 editions of What is Scientology?
Levi, in November 2002, quoted an earlier poster called
Safe:
Levi::
In this example , RTC deleted the words "AS DEVELOPED BY L. RON
HUBBARD" and "ACCORDING TO THE BASICS OF STANDARD TECH"
(these deleted words not capital in the orginal, I bolded them here
because they are of vital importance, of all the deletions RTC could
have possibly made, they chose these specific words, which crealy
demonstrate RTC's intention to destroy the tech.
Safe wrote:
"Gee's, it's a non-stop project. I just keep on uncovering
"BOTWO the Squirrel" hard at work in the Miscavige Church of
Scientology Inc. Now he is messing with the auditors code which I
consider a MAJOR, MAJOR sacriledge to Scientology."
" In the new 98 "enhanced' version of the "What is Scientology?"
book one of the precepts in the auditors code says ..."
"I promise to cooperate fully with the organizations of
Dianetics and Scientology in safeguarding the ethical use and
practice of those subjects."
" I will bold what is OMITTED. Here is what it SHOULD say ...
"I promise to cooperate fully with the LEGAL organizations of
Dianetics and Scientology AS DEVELOPED BY L. RON HUBBARD in
safeguarding the ethical use and practice of the subject ACCORDING TO
THE BASICS OF STANDARD TECH." [capitals mine for emphasis]
Actually the Auditor's Code was revised in 1980 - a
year or two before the current management team took over.
There have been various versions of The Auditor's Code over the years.
The version LRH talks about in an excellent series I have from August 1956
called ~The Game of Life~ can still be found in the modern editions of
books such as ~The Fundamentals of Thought~.
However LRH also refined the code in a policy letter he issued in October
1968. Here is the extract that Safe cites approvingly above:
'25. I promise to cooperate fully with the legal
organisations of
Dianetics and Scientology as developed by L. Ron Hubbard in
safeguarding the ethical use and practice of the subject according
to the basics of Standard Tech.'
L. Ron Hubbard. HCOPL 14 Oct 68 The Auditor's Code.
That policy letter was revised in 1980. The same idea was restated and
became point 26.
'26. I promise to cooperate fully with the
authorized organizations
of Dianetics and Scientology in safeguarding the ethical use and
practice of those subjects.'
L. Ron Hubbard. HCO PL 14 Oct 68 RA. Revised 19 Jun 80. The Auditor's
Code.
The different versions of ~What is Scientology?~ have different
versions of the code. They contain whichever one was valid at the
time of publication.
To me, when looked at without the unnecessary verbiage, it becomes a
ridiculously insignificant point.
Levi and safe also complain that the notion of Standard Tech has been
removed from the later version.
Blimey!
However they fail to note that the idea is already rather
thoroughly covered in point 3:
"I promise to administer only standard tech to a preclear
in the
standard way."
L. Ron Hubbard. HCO PL 14 Oct RA. Revised 19 Jun 80. The
Auditor's
Code.
